What is FlipSilent?
A small software which makes you use your phone in a more natural way:
When you are in a meeting or dating, and a call is coming in, you can flipover your phone to make it go into the silent profile and hang up the phone call or mute the ringer — without touching anything on the phone, just flip it over, your phone will go into silence!
Phones Supported?
Currently, It supports only phones with an Accelerometer built in：
N95, N95 8GB, N82, N93i (reported not working)
You need a Developer Certificate to sign the sis file in order to install it on your phone!

Sorry for the inconvenience, I just finished it, and I will distribute it (leave it here or through other channels) after it is symbian-signed. By now, I would like to know how many people really have an interest in it (who will not bother sending an email). Just tried on my N82.
Small bugs:
even if in “Flip Over” I set on “Silent Profile”, it however Hang up the incoming Call.
Suggestions:
- add another options for “flip over” to just mute the call without hanging up and without going to silent profile.
- add a way to let the user choose which profile to go when Flipping Over or Flipping Back.

Great program; but there is a great bug: setting menu doesn’t work at all! You can change any setting, but it will always ramain the “standard” one…

Nice added feature that I realized- this will activate the ’snooze’ on an alarm. When the snooze is up, the alarm will sound again.

i think this app has a big flaw:
i set the first setting “Flip Over” to Silent Profile because i didnt want it to hang up incoming calls, but it does it anyway, and what’s worse, there isn’t even any notification that you got a call, so if you have FlipSilent running and it accidently hangs up an incoming call you wouldn’t even know somebody called!
This should really be fixed!
Otherwise it’S just great and the tiny size of the program is impressive!

Because when you flip the phone over, you actively disconnected the call, so It should be stored in the Answered calls log.

I tried the software and its working like a charm except for the fact that it doesnt just turn the silent mode on but also rejects the call even after changing the setting but for the other so called flaw wherein you cant see the log in the missed calls, well when a call is rejected you can see it in the received calls list as is the case even otherwise. Great software!! Good job ren

i use “flipsilent” but i think that there is a bug.
in the options, in “flip over” i choose silent profile but when i recive a call i turn the cell and it hang up…
i think that is a problem…

I would echo some of the above really. Bug-wise: The option to switch to silent but not end the call doesn’t work.
Suggestions: 1) Have the app store any calls it has ended so you can review them afterwards. Doing this within the app would be best but even just telling you to check the native received call list would be fine.
2) It would be nice to be able to select from all my profiles in the settings for flipping over and back. At the moment only the silent or general ones are supported.
3) Hang up and send pre-defined text rather than just hanging up.

Thanks for the update! It seems that now it can’t be used too snooze the alarm in “mute ringer”-mode, only in “hang up call”-mode. It would be great if that feature was possible for both modes.

I must ask though how did you mean this sw to be used ?
I would like to have it running all time in the background - BUT when I just play or fiddle with my N95 - it constantly switches between Silent Profile and the one I had before - in this case (when not at a meeting , just having my N95 on my desk face down for some reason) it will automatically switch to silent profile and I will miss many calls because of it doing so without me knowing.
Having to run FlipSilent every time I enter a meeting is not the point , as I can simply switch to silent profile/meeting profile myself.
What do you say ?

The application works perfect in my N95.
The only thing is that I had to install it on the phone card, it did not work when I installed it on the memory card. I know that LightSabre has the same problem. Will donate tomorrow.

Cool App. Loving it already.
Only downside is that the phone switches between silent and my selected profile every time the phone angles. It would be cool if the app ran in the back ground and only worked if an incoming call/message was detected or the alarm was going off.

first tries.
I use also Mobiegenie (phone answering program). The answering machine does not switch on when FlipSilent is active.
A suggestion for an additional feature: connect FlipSilent to a profile that one can choose during setup, ie, FlipSilent is only on during a specific profile.

Next the application is not hidden, even after restarting the phone. I have a N95 8 Go.
Can you add the possiblity to not close the application when Close all application is selected in the task manager (Set as a System Application) ?

Hi, great app but…
In version 1, when the clock alarm goes off, flip the phone, and it snoozes, but in version 1.01, this doesn’t seen to work, and the alarm keeps going.
Is this meant to happen, or is it a bug (I have tried both the ‘flip over’ options , same in both)

Alarm bug!ver 1.01. The flipsilent action for this Alarm feature alone is worth its weight in gold.
We have all been there, fumbling for the snooze button for that extra 5 min zzzz. :-).

Fantastic application! There is only another small bug in add to post 47: i have a nokia n95 and i have to install flipsilent in the phonememory . If i install the app into card memory , flipsilent will not work!

非常棒的软件。提一点小意见，就是开机自动运行后长按菜单键还可以看到，hide无效；另外系统字体选小的时候，选项会发生错位，希望在下个版本可以改进。

Great program, only downside is the profile change, please in the next version let us choose if we want it to change the profile. also another downside is that if the phone is in a lose trouser and there is a call, the phone might jump around and reject the call, so it would be nice to have some sort of deactivation when there is too much movement.

Again, thanks for a very useful app. I installed v1.01 yesterday and was very pleased with the functionality, although I have some comments:
1. As mentioned by #78, it really drains battery life. Is there a way to make it less power consuming?
2. Sometimes when walking with the phone in my trouser pocket it switches between silent and normal. (Also mentioned by #68). Is it possible to only activate the function (or include the option to do so) when the phone is face up, not moving?

Thanks for the good work, I look forward to a less movement sensitive version, when I’m driving in my car. It keeps switching to silenced profile to normal profile randomly. I drive easy no hard accelsrations and things like that.

Menues change settings like they shoud, and register changes as well.
Does not work to turn sound of the alarm as postet earlier though.

期待能支持N93i的版本，毕竟N93i也是带有Accelerometer的。不过从1.0beta到1.01beta版我都试过，包括汉化版的，都无法启动，提示功能表错误。希望1.02版能解决这个问题。

因为你选的是来电启动，为了节电，电话结束后会自动关闭传感器，所以翻回来的时候传感器就不会检测到，只有再次来电才可以检测到（传感器只在来电的时候打开，电话结束后自动关闭）。如果大家都要求翻回时还能回到原来状态，下个版本可以做成那个样子的，但是稍微会费电一点 — 翻转后传感器一直都是开着的，直到翻回手机为止。

sys文件夹里会多个***D.exe文件，比如来电通。

Hi Tongren,
installed v1.02 on my n95 8gb (RM-320, 11.0.026)
When a call comes in, Phone is ringing and i flip the phone it changes to silent profile as it should, but flipping back doesn’t change to the previous used profile at the next call, it keeps the silent one. I have to manually set the profile for ringing.
I tried to donate but paypal doesn’t accept transfers below USD 150 from my location to china, I’m sorry.

additional info:
when I choose general profile instead of previous profile it switches back 1 call too late:
flipped during incoming call -> silent, flipped back -> silent profile during the next call, after this the profile changes to general, so I will have 1 missed call

I’ve upgraded to v1.02 of FlipSilent and I have a couple of suggestions/bugs to raise.
Bug: I like the idea of saving battery power by allowing the application to only kick in when a call is coming in. Unfortunately the problem with that is that when the phone is flipped back over again it doesn’t change back to the previous/General profile. It remains in silent. In order for it to change back to normal when the phone is flipped back over it has to be on the Always On setting.
Suggestion: I’ve tested the program with its power save option on and it doesn’t silence text messages. Could this be introduced as well?
Suggestion: The program seems to be quite sensitive. I use it while at work as I have my phone at my desk, but the gentlest knock of the phone makes it beep, indicating that it’s switched profiles. Can the program be made less sensitive or maybe include a sensitivity option?

I saw a suggestion about letting FlipSilent work for incoming messages.
But, how about adding a feature, if possible, to FlipOver and reply with sms?
Then you could let users make their own custom replies to callers. The phone then goes into silent and replies, or hangs up and replies.

Just tested on n95 8gb, using the option active when call, hung up call, return to previous profile.
Bug:
1) it only hung up the first call, if you phone another time it only left the silent profile but did not hang up again.
2) for the first call, it pass one second and one ring heard before it changes to reject and silent profile.
2) once entered in silent profile by the first call, no way to return to normal mode, it remains in silent profile is set to return to previous profile.
It only change if flipped to general profile if you choose in the option as choice but you loose the first call because it activates the general profile but you cannot heard that call ringing for that call; you can heard the others after that one.

Suggestion: When Sensor Activity is set to the battery-saving “Active when call in”, the profile should switch back immediately when the call activity is over (and then switch to silent again, when a call comes in). That avoids the known problem of the phone getting stuck in the silent profile but is still easy on the battery. What do you think?

I have set it to only work when a call comes in or when the alarm goes off and to not change profiles at any time only mute the ringer and haven’t had any issues that way. I may use the profile change option if I know I am going to be in a few meetings but mostly the mute ringer will be perfect for me.
I have to say the stop/snooze alarm feature is ace! I try not to make a habit of using snooze but now it’s so easy it may get some use hehe
The “Hide” doesn’t seem to work still when the phone is started.

Tested new Alpha version. Works great here, but as 165. olza suggests, I think it would be wise to at least get alarm snooze be emulated keypress.
Or, let FlipSilent reset profile when in Alarm setting and flipped over once, because, if you flip over the phone, you change profile to silent, and will miss calls too?
Also if you leave it flipped over just once, the snooze kicks in fine, but if you leave it there, next time alarm goes off, you will have to manually press a key to stop or silence the alarm.
Tested on N95 8GB

Just testing the alpha version. I’ve noticed the menu has changed since v1.02 and I can’t see an option for the power save feature. Does the app kick in when a call comes in by default or is it running all the time like before? Also it doesn’t automatically mute texts if the phone is already flipped. Version v1.03 works almost perfectly. The only issue that I have found is the one regarding the alarm as it is stated in 165 and 170.
It would be better not to change profiles in alarm, because you may also lose a call, while you have only intended to snooze the alarm. Morevover there is also the very common case that you have your phone in the offline profile while sleeping. In this case, it is not rational to go into the silent profile (and so go online) when you flip your phone to stop the alarm.
So, I strongly agree with 165 and 170. Please make it not change profiles while flipped during the alarm.

wouldn’t it be good to have the language selection in the country specific language as well to make it easier for the individuals to find the correct one?

Bug - If you do not use flipsilent to change profiles, you have your phone fliped over, receive a call, flip it back to see ho is calling and flip it over to silence the phone it will not silence the call. It only silences the call if the phone is facing up !

Suggestion: In 1.4 can you add functionality to pause the music player when flipped?
Problem: When I took my phone out of my pocket last night (in the club, after a couple hours of movement), my phone was in the silent profile, so, thinking “no biggie, my phone just thinks its upside down after all this movement” I flipped screen up so that it would go back to the general profile (I have it set to return to the previous profile). However, when flipped screen up, it re-activated the silent profile, subsequent flipping just kept reactivating the silent profile (I’m absolutely sure I had the phone in general when I left home that evening). So, I figure this means that either, somewhere during that evening, flipsilent incorrectly set the profile to silent after a rightside-up movement, or incorrectly changed the “previous profile” variable to silent after a downside flip when it should have been set to general. I’m sure the phone was previously in general. Its not that big a deal, I just set it to “go to general” after a flip back, instead of “previous profile”.

Callin -> flipover->silentOK
flipped over -> Callin -> silentOK
flipback -> Callin -> ringOK -> flipover -> silentOK
flippedover -> Callin -> RING NOK ??? -> flip back and flipover, ringsignal won’t be muted again
resnooze of alarm works fine now
Will send a modified german languagepack in a few minutes with shorter text to avoid incomplete text. Do you have a solution for the wrong displayed special characters (I saw that this problem exists for more different languages)

非常感谢您的软件！我仔细多次试过1.02版后，发现有两个问题：1.在屏幕朝下的情况下，对方打进电话，如果事先感应器总是开启，则可以响铃，如果选来电时开启，则不响。2.在屏幕朝下的情况下，对方打进电话，不管选感应器总是开启还是选来电时开启，在桌面上都不响。但在软的地方，比如棉被，感应器总是开启情况下，则会响。希望能够改进！谢谢。听说1.03版本出了，请问在哪儿可以下载呢？谢谢！

Weird… when i download the public beta it is in spanisch or something… With alpha and beta (non public) it worked! It was in englisch… Or I could chooce from it during installation… but i dont remember that… So what is the link for english version or even beter… a dutch version

I have 1.03 set up like this:
Sensor Activity - Callin And Alarm
FlipOver-Profile - Silent Profile
FlipOver-Call - Mute Ringer
FlipOver-Alarm - Stop Alarm
FlipBack-Profile - Previous Profile
AutoStart - Yes & Hide
When I receive a call in General profile I flip the phone and it switches to Silent. When I flip it back it remains stuck in the Silent profile - What am I doing wrong? Please help!

Well it’s english now… I set my language to english and installed the app.. (I didn’t try it first with my original dutch language, so i dont know what would have happend then…)
But during installation i didnt got a option to set the language i wanted… so wouldn’t it be better to make that a menu option in the future?

Sorry that i answer the question of Maus in my native language, but he doesn’t get it if we answer him in Englisch.
@ Maus Wat is het probleem want ik snap eigenlijk niet wat je probleem is. Flipsilent 1.03 is gewoon verkrijgbaar in het Nederlands. Download de unsigned Flipsilent 1.03 en sign deze. Vervolgens installeer je Flipsilent op je telefoongeheugen. daarna open je Flipsilent.
Je moet wel in kunnen loggen op de site en dan onder het kopje Dutch kan je de link vinden.
Ik heb net de nieuwe 1.03 gedownload en geinstalleert en kreeg meteen alles in de Nederlandse taal. Kom er net achter wat je waarschijnlijk fout doet: Je hebt geen donatie gedaan en kunt dus ook niet inloggen, zodoende kun je dus ook niet de Nederlandse versie downloaden, maar heb je de Engelse (internationale) versie. Correct me if i’m wrong!!

Oh i understand. He fixed the problem with the new uploaded version.. it work if my phone is in dutch… and in english! Then the app will get that language… But never i got the option to choose which language. But never mind i got it in dutch now automatic because of the language detection.

Hij had eerst een verkeerde versie… Je hoeft er niet voor in te loggen.
Eerst kreeg je met nederlandse taal een spaanse taal.
Nu met zijn nieuwe geuploadde versie krijg ik nederlands.. en engels als mijn toestel op engels staat. Dus dat werkt nu goed… de app is nu ook zon 2 kb groter… Maar ik krijg nog steeds niet de selecteer optie tijdens installen, maar goed mijn probleem is opgelost met die nieuwe instal van hem

Hi Tongren! I noticed that Flipsilent is not really hide until you open and then close it; your direct competitor Shut up instead hides great. With this program I notice a little flicker of the display at the startup: I think that a trick to cheat the Symbian protection that leave programs visible in task manager is to automatically relaunch and rehide the program itself (difficult to exlain). Autoexecute, hide, re-execute, re-hide. Should this work?

Sugestion.
Make program switch profile, or mute call, alarm only if it is fliped for full 180 degrees, no matter where it starts. This will exclude mistaken switch in pocket or bag.
